Why Get ISO Certified

What ISO Certification
Actually Does for Your Business

ISO isn't a badge — it's a business advantage. Here's what certified companies gain.

Win Government Tenders
ISO 9001 is mandatory for most central and state government e-tenders on GeM, CPWD, PWD, railways, and defence procurement. Without it, your bid is disqualified at stage 1. ISO certification immediately unlocks ₹thousands of crores in government contract opportunities.
Access Export Markets
EU buyers, US importers, and international retailers require ISO certification as minimum supplier qualification. ISO 9001 + ISO 14001 together satisfy most export buyer audit requirements. Essential for MSME exporters entering Germany, UK, UAE, and Southeast Asian markets.
Enterprise Vendor Approval
Large corporates like Tata, Reliance, L&T, Infosys, and MNCs mandate ISO 9001 for supply chain empanelment. Without ISO, MSMEs are excluded from corporate vendor databases. ISO certification is your ticket into enterprise procurement systems.
MSME Loan & Subsidy Benefits
ISO certified MSMEs receive priority credit scoring from banks, lower interest rates on MUDRA and CGTMSE loans, and eligibility for Quality Council of India (QCI) subsidy schemes that reimburse up to 75% of ISO certification costs.
Operational Efficiency & Quality
ISO certification forces process documentation, standardisation, and continuous improvement. Companies typically see 15–30% reduction in waste, rework, and customer complaints within 6 months of implementation. The operational savings often exceed the certification cost.
Legal & Regulatory Protection
ISO certified companies demonstrate due diligence in quality, safety, and environmental compliance. In case of product liability claims, workplace accidents, or environmental incidents, ISO certification significantly reduces legal and regulatory exposure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need
to Know About ISO

How long does ISO 9001:2015 certification take in India?
ISO 9001:2015 typically takes 30–90 days depending on company size and documentation readiness. Small businesses (under 50 employees) with basic processes can be certified in 30 days through our fast-track programme. Medium enterprises (50–200 employees) typically take 45–60 days. Large manufacturing companies with multiple departments typically take 60–90 days. Sirus Infotech's fastest ISO 9001 certification was completed in 22 working days.
What is the cost of ISO certification in India?
ISO certification in India involves two costs: (1) Consultant fees — Sirus Infotech charges ₹24,999 (MSME) to ₹99,999+ (large enterprise), covering gap analysis, system design, documentation, training, and audit support. (2) Certification Body (CB) fees — paid directly to the accredited CB, ranging from ₹25,000 to ₹80,000 depending on company size and standard. MSME businesses can claim up to 75% subsidy through the QCI-MSME scheme, effectively reducing the total cost significantly.
Is ISO 9001 mandatory for government tenders in India?
Yes — ISO 9001 is mandatory for the majority of central government tenders (GeM Portal, CPWD, MES, Railways, Defence), most state PWD tenders, and virtually all large corporate procurement processes. Tenders above ₹50 lakh typically require ISO 9001 as a mandatory qualification criteria. Without it, your bid is rejected at the technical qualification stage regardless of price. ISO 9001 certification is the single most impactful investment an MSME can make to access government contracts.
What is the difference between IAF-accredited and non-accredited ISO certificates?
This is critical. IAF-accredited certificates are issued by Certification Bodies (CBs) accredited by NABCB (India's national accreditation body) or equivalent international bodies. These are recognised globally and by Indian government tender portals. Non-accredited certificates (sometimes offered at very low prices) are issued by unrecognised bodies and are NOT accepted for government tenders, export documentation, or international contracts. Sirus Infotech works exclusively with IAF-accredited certification bodies to ensure your certificate has real value.
How long is an ISO certificate valid? What is surveillance audit?
An ISO certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of issue. However, to maintain validity, companies must pass annual surveillance audits in Year 1 and Year 2. In Year 3, a full recertification audit is conducted. Surveillance audits are lighter than the initial certification audit and focus on checking that the QMS is being maintained. Sirus Infotech's packages include support for all 3-year surveillance cycles.
Can I get multiple ISO standards certified at the same time?
Yes — this is called an Integrated Management System (IMS). The most common combination is ISO 9001 + ISO 14001 + ISO 45001 (QHSE — Quality, Health, Safety, Environment). Getting multiple standards certified simultaneously is significantly more cost-effective than certifying them separately. The audit scope, documentation, and consultant time overlap considerably. Sirus Infotech specialises in IMS implementation and recommends it for all manufacturing companies needing both quality and environmental/safety compliance.
Does my company need to change its processes to get ISO certified?
Not necessarily radically — but you do need to document and formalise your existing processes. Many companies already follow good practices informally. ISO certification requires that these practices be documented in SOPs, work instructions, and quality manuals. Our gap analysis identifies what's already compliant and what needs to be created or improved. Typically, 60–70% of a company's processes are already ISO-compatible — we just need to document them properly.
